Proven Leadership, Local Heart.

A Servant Leader With Deep Roots in Statesville

Doug Hendrix has called Statesville home for more than 25 years — living, working, raising his family, and serving the community he loves.

After a 40-year career in banking, including helping to open the Statesville office of blueharbor bank in 2015, Doug retired in 2023. But his commitment to this city is far from over. Now, he’s stepping forward to run for Mayor of Statesville, driven by a passion for service and a deep belief in the potential of this community.

Doug’s leadership style is rooted in listening, collaboration, and action. He believes the next chapter of Statesville’s growth must be both smart and inclusive — creating opportunities for businesses to thrive, while ensuring every resident has access to safe, affordable housing, reliable services, and a high quality of life.

A Legacy of Local Involvement

Doug has served in dozens of leadership roles over the last four decades, including:

Board Chair of the Greater Statesville Chamber of Commerce

Board Chair of Fifth Street Ministries

Board Chair of the Downtown Statesville Development Corporation

Board Member of Iredell Health System, I-CARE, American Cancer Society

Vice President of the Statesville Branch of the NAACP

President of the Rotary Club of Greater Statesville

Co-Chair of the area’s first Relay for Life and the Heart Ball

Even with all his titles, Doug says his favorite kind of service is the hands-on kind — building Habitat houses, feeding guests at Fifth Street, volunteering at Carolina Balloonfest, and delivering meals to seniors during the holidays.

Looking Ahead Together

Doug’s campaign is focused on smart, forward-thinking growth. That means:

Expanding housing options for people of all ages and income levels

Planning ahead for infrastructure like roads, sewer systems, parks, and public safety

Supporting city employees with competitive pay, modern tools, and top-tier training

Strengthening partnerships with county, state, and federal leaders

Keeping the heart of Statesville strong as the city grows
